Valley Oak SPCA (2024)

Changes and Important Info Due to COVID-19

Volunteer Orientations have been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak and restrictions. Please see below for ways you can help VOSPCA pets.

🤔How can I help? What does Valley Oak SPCA need the most right now?

👉Dry and wet puppy food: We prefer Purina One Puppy food or Iams.
👉Cat food: We feed our cats Nutra-Nugget cat food from Costco. There is a good supply there; if anyone is at Costco and wants to grab a bag for us we would be extremely grateful. Our kittens eat Purina Kitten Chow dry food and we use Friskies Pate wet food and Fancy Feast Kitten wet food as well.
👉Dog and puppy toys and treats! We go through toys like crazy! All of our canines get a snack before bed too.
Human baby bottles, puppy pee pads and heating pads are very much appreciated.
👉Blankets, towels and pet beds.
👉Monetary donations (more posts on this to come).

👉How does the dog walking program work?

🐾Our dog walking program is called Steps4Pets and here are our current rules.
🐾Dog walkers can come 7 days a week between 8:30am-11:30am and 1:30pm-4pm.
🐾Staff typically go to lunch between 11:30am-1:30pm and this is doggie nap time so please avoid this time-frame.
🐾Dog walkers are not paid… except with wet kisses, furry hugs and the joy & health of exercise for you and a pet!
🐾You do not have to call before you come (we are short-staffed and don’t have someone answering phones when we are not open).
🐾You do not have to go through volunteer orientation to walk a dog.
🐾You need to sign a waiver before walking.
🐾Children 6th grade - 8th need to have a parent/guardian walking with them. Teens that are freshman and above can come without parent/guardian. In order to keep all families and our dogs safe, we are asking that no small children, including children in strollers, are brought to walk dogs. We need both hands free in order to hold the leash properly (babies in backpacks are ok).
🐾Good walking shoes are required.

🤔How do Adoptions and Fostering work?

Adopters: please look through the available animals on our websitehttp://www.vospca.org/adoption
💓Schedule an adoption appointment and submit a completed adoption application. Print, fill out and bring the application, you can find it here: https://www.vospca.org/appointments
💓Check in at the front bay door.

💓Our team will review your application and will do our best to match you with a pet that we believe will fit your home the best.
💓If you are approved to adopt, an employee will bring out the animal(s) for a meet-n-greet.
💓If we find your perfect match, there will be more paperwork to complete, an adoption fee, and an adoption photo!

Fosters: If you are applying to foster please fill out and submit the form here:http://www.vospca.org/foster
💓Please wait until you are contacted before coming to the Adoption Center.
💓Pets are fostered out according to priority: seniors, injured, sick and orphans have the greatest needs.
💓We provide supplies and all medical care for foster parents. However, you are welcome to purchase your own supplies to prevent depletion of our stock.
