WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NOTICE
Construction of Water System Improvements are being made to the City of Carrollton water system and will be financed by the Public Water Supply Loan State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Phase 1 of the project includes the replacement of Carrollton's 1924 elevated drinking water storage tank. Storage capacity will increase from 100,000 gallons to 250,000 gallons to match current demands and meet recommended standards. The Phase 1 project will start construction during the Summer of 2021 and be completed by fall of 2022.
The Phase 2 project will include replacement of the existing water treatment plant constructed in 1958. The new treatment plant will provide a modest increase in supply volume, improved water treatment plant resiliency, and relieve the existing plant which has far exceeded its design life. The Phase 2 project is expected to begin construction in the Spring of 2022 and be completed by Summer 2023.
Once complete, the projects will improve water quality, system resiliency, improve fire flows, and supply redundancy for all customers.
SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: Water
